« Driftless Area Bluff Prairies - New Ecological Site Descriptions Released »

The first NRCS Ecological Site Descriptions completed for the Driftless Area are now available online.

Ecological Site Descriptions (ESDs) are reports that provide detailed information about a particular kind of land - a distinctive Ecological Site. ESDs provide land managers the information needed for evaluating the land for capability to respond to different management activities or disturbance processes. The publications synthesize information gathered from literature reviews, expert opinion, and field work at reference sites around the region.

The first ESDs describe Dolomite Colluvium Bluff Prairies and Sandstone Colluvium Bluff Prairies, occurring in Wisconsin, Iowa, and Minnesota.
